From Setback to Success: My Journey to Finding a Home at 5Q

Thank you to Scott Long for submitting his story to be featured on the 5Q blog!

I worked for my previous company for seven and a half years and was subsequently laid off one Monday morning with no warning.  As a new father of an infant daughter and having recently purchased my home, you can imagine how terrifying this situation was.  I started looking for jobs online that same day. I sent out my resume to numerous companies. Within a day or two, I was contacted by 5Q's HR Manager, Jordan, who set me up for a couple of interviews with 5Q. The very next week, they sent me an offer letter, and I was able to start a few weeks later.

Scott Long - 5Q

Since I've been with 5Q, I have gained experience with Incident Management and learned how an MSP supports multiple clients.  In my previous role, I had only supported one company internally, so it was initially overwhelming to see how many clients we handled. However, I quickly adapted and embraced the fast-paced environment, learning a lot along the way.

After nearly three years at 5Q, I have done my best to support our clients and provide top-quality service to them. I was also recently promoted to team lead.  I love how 5Q looks to promote from within so that they can retain good people and let them take on more responsibilities, growing within the company.

When I attended the company retreat in the fall of 2022, I was treated with kindness and respect from everyone I met. I was even able to sit down and socialize with the CEO and CISO. When I was asked about how my daughter was doing, it made me feel important and valued because I wasn't just a name on a roster, but a valued member of the 5Q family.

I am happy to be a part of 5Q and am excited to see our continued success and growth in the coming years!
