Senior Revenue Accountant

The Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for the administration of key revenue related accounting functions. This role supports 5Q finance and accounting ensuring accurate invoice execution and revenue recognition for both recurring and non-recurring services and products. The role confirms accurate billing of customer contracts and sales orders, creating and maintaining related invoices, analyzing revenue transactions, recording revenue, cost of goods sold (COGS) and expense related accounting entries. This role coordinates closely with operational departments including customer service, resale and inventory operations, and business leadership.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Review customer contracts, master service agreements, statements of work (SOWs), sales-orders and/or signed quotes to confirm billable items and invoicing terms, ensuring sales items are invoiced in accordance with the contractual documents.

2. Prepare and issue both recurring and non-recurring client invoices based on contractual sales agreements. Ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and proper supporting documentation.

3. Analyze revenue transactions to ensure appropriate classification, business line tagging, and recognition in accordance with company policy and procedure.

4. Record revenue related journals, including entries for deferred and/or accrued revenue,

5. Prepare and issue credit memos as applicable and approved by appropriate management.

6. Evaluate, record and reconcile COGS transactions, including cost recognition timing and required accruals or deferrals to align with revenue recognition. Coordinate with Account Payable, procurement/inventory team and/or service departments as necessary to identify and evaluate revenue correlated COGS and expenses.

7. Resolve customer invoicing inquiries and resolve any outstanding invoice issues.

8. Ensure collection of appropriate sales tax in invoicing process.

9. Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve contract/billing issues and improve upstream data quality

10. Perform month-end and year-end close activities including account reconciliations, variance explanations and preparation of closing schedule documentation.

11. Adhere to all SOC2 processes and assist in audit documentation as requested.

12. Responsible for the execution and remediation of identified controls in your area of responsibility.

13. Evaluate, recommend, and implement accounting workflow to ensure accuracy/ efficiency. Assist with process improvements, including revenue/billing improvements, accounting enhancements and strengthening of internal controls.

14.Work with Senior Director, Accounting Manager and CFO and other operating managers on 5Q initiatives, other projects and long-term planning.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree is desired in Accounting, Finance or Business. MBA highly desired; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Minimum 8-10 years of senior financial experience, within a managed services or consulting environment is highly desired.

2. Minimum 5-8 years of high-volume, time sensitive invoice production in recurring and non-recurring sales; versed in both service and product sales invoicing.

3. Thorough experience with contract review and correlating revenue to contractual documentation.

4. Thorough knowledge of revenue recognition and cost of goods association.

5. Strong financial and accounting background, including an understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet and strong general finance acumen.

6. Ability to inspire confidence and create trust and identify strategies and suggestions to key decision makers and enterprise level clients.

7. Ability to understand new issues quickly and respond with sound financial fundamentals.
