Business Development Representative (Outside Sales)

The role of the Business Development Representative is to generate qualified sales opportunities and expand relationships within target markets. This is an outside sales role focused on networking, attending industry conferences, meeting prospective clients, developing referral relationships, and creating opportunities for the Director of Sales to close. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of business development or sales experience, enjoys building relationships, and is comfortable representing the company in the field. Success in this role is measured by qualified meetings, pipeline generation, and annual contract value (ACV) produced.

Business Development

• Identify and prospect new clients through networking, referrals, events, and outbound outreach.

• Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events throughout the Southeast.

• Schedule and conduct in-person meetings with prospective clients.

• Develop relationships with executives, IT leaders, and business decision-makers.

• Create and maintain a healthy sales pipeline in CRM.

Opportunity Generation

• Qualify prospects and identify business challenges and technology needs.

• Schedule discovery meetings between prospects and the Director of Sales.

• Gather business requirements and prepare opportunity summaries.

• Coordinate follow-up activities and maintain engagement throughout the sales cycle.

Market Development

• Build relationships with referral partners and industry associations.

• Represent 5Q professionally at client and community events.

• Research target accounts and vertical markets.

• Provide market intelligence and competitive insights to leadership.

• 2–3 years of outside sales, business development, account management, or consultative sales experience.

• Strong networking and relationship-building skills.

• Experience managing a sales pipeline and using CRM systems.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight for conferences and client meetings.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• Experience selling managed services, IT services, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, or business technology solutions.

• Existing business relationships within multifamily, student housing, and/or senior living

• Experience selling to mid-market organizations.

• Experience selling to multifamily and student housing sectors
