The Network Engineer is a strategic technical position within the 5Q Partners Engineering Services organization. This position is responsible for designing, implementing and documenting network infrastructure for a wide variety of clients of various sizes. The successful candidate will be capable of working in heterogeneous network environments using technologies from multiple vendors. They will also be capable of managing simultaneous complex projects effectively.  This position will work out of the Atlanta HQ office of 5Q Partners and require some travel.


  • Active participation in day to day role out of distributed network environments
  • Design, build, configure and document networks using a wide variety of vendor equipment and technologies
  • Provide technical documentation and detailed diagrams to Project and Operations teams as part of project deliverables
  • Accurately communicate project status to stakeholders
  • Illustrate best practices of cybersecurity on new and existing network designs
  • Implement and test high availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Demonstrate technical expertise to the client and provide cross training to internal resources
  • Provide timely communication to customers to keep them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed upon outages
  • Participate in change management process

To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Previous experience with Cisco and Meraki Enterprise/Small Business switches, routers and firewalls are mandatory
  • Expertise in understanding and implementing network security, network types, network media, routing and switching fundamentals. Complete understanding of TCP/IP and the OSI model
  • Conversant in IP addressing, WAN technologies, operating and configuring IOS devices, extending switched networks with VLANs, determining IP routes, managing IP traffic with access lists.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and components including DNS, DHCP, routing etc.
  • An understanding of virtual private clouds and multi-tenant environments
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience designing and installing complex technical solutions
  • Expertise in virtualized server environments on Hyper-V and VMware is a plus
  • Ability to use Visio for network diagramming
  • Knowledge of Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL, Exchange, Office 365, SharePoint and other Microsoft core business applications is a plus
  • Skills around remote Access solutions such as RDS and VDI are also pluses
